Retro arcade in 2025 means two things that get conflated: actual 1978–1994 arcade ports (Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders — all legally available through official channels) and Neo-retro originals that use pixel art and chip-tone audio as aesthetic signals without necessarily reproducing the mechanical harshness of the originals. The second category is larger, more forgiving, and often better designed.
